Registration Information for Spring 2009

Registration and player evaluation dates for the 2009 El Segundo Girls Softball (ESGS) season are scheduled as outlined below.

Eligibility

A player must be at least 5 years old on 12/31/08 to play softball with ESGS. If a player is 4 years old or younger on 12/31/08, she is not old enough to play softball with ESGS.

Age divisions for the 2009 season

14U Born in 1994 or 1995

12U Born in 1996 or 1997

10U Born in 1998 or 1999

8U Born in 2000 or 2001

6U Born in 2002 or 2003

Girls do not have to be El Segundo residents, so proof of residency (utility bills, etc.) is not required.

Fees

Registration fees are reduced for each player that registers before January 7, 2009.

Fees for one player

$75 Registration fee ($100 after January 7, 2009)

$10 School field fee

$75 Snack bar deposit*

$35 Fundraiser buyout (optional)

$25 Player's clinic, 8U/10U/12U/14U (optional)

$20 Player's clinic, 6U only (optional)

Fees for multiple players

$75 Registration fee for the first player ($100 after January 7, 2009)

$65 Registration fee for each additional player ($100 for each additional player after January 7, 2009)

$10 School field fee per player

$75 Snack bar deposit* per player

$35 Fundraiser buyout for the first player (optional)

$15 Fundraiser buyout for each additional player (optional)

$25 Player's clinic fee per 8U/10U/12U/14U player (optional)

$20 Player's clinic fee per 6U player (optional)

*The snack bar deposit should be a separate check. The snack bar deposit check will not be cashed unless you fail to complete your snack bar duty.

Registration by Mail

The best way to register is by completing the required forms and mailing them to:

Mailed forms and fees must be postmarked by January 7, 2009, to qualify for early registration. Envelopes postmarked after January 7, 2009, must include the full registration fee ($100 per player), and the player will be placed on a waiting list.

Make sure to include these items:

1. Registration form (fully completed and signed, one for each player).

Please read the following policies before signing the registration forms:

a. Snack Bar Policy

b. Field Clean-up Policy

c. Code of Ethics

2. Fees (two separate checks: one for fees, one for snack bar)

3. Player clinic form (one for each player attending)

4. Birth certificate copies (proof of age is required for each player)

5. Volunteer form (required for managers, coaches, chaperones and team parents)

Bring your completed forms, birth certificate copies and fees.

Player Evaluations

Player evaluations will be held in January. All 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U players will be required to attend the player evaluations. Balanced teams is the goal, and all managers should attend. Pitchers may have to come multiple days. Review the schedule carefully. Please arrive 15 minutes early or you will be placed in the next time slot.

10U Division (1998 & 1999 birth dates)

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 @ Recreation Park Softball Field

A-H 5:30pm

I-Q 6:15pm

R-Z 7:00pm

Pitchers return at 7:30pm*

12U Division (1996 & 1997 birth dates)

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 @ Recreation Park Softball Field

A-F 5:30pm

G-R 6:15pm

S-Z 7:00pm

Pitchers return at 7:30pm*

14U Division (1994 & 1995 birth dates)

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 @ Recreation Park Softball Field

A-M 8:00pm

N-Z 8:30pm

Pitchers return at 9:00pm*

*All pitchers will be evaluated separately. Each player that participates in the pitcher evaluations needs their own ADULT catcher for the try outs. Notify the Player Agent or check-in person when you arrive for evaluations that your daughter wants to try out for pitcher. If your daughter has previously pitched in ESGS and is designated as a pitcher for the league but is no longer interested in pitching, request that she no longer be designated as a pitcher for the draft. Any player that does not attend the pitching evaluations for her division will NOT be allowed to pitch in ANY league games. This decision is final. Please make sure that you and your daughter understand this rule.

Managers and Coaches

Managers will be chosen depending on the number of teams needed. All 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U managers and coaches should plan on attending the player evaluations to prepare for the division draft.
